Emilykate McDonough, PhD
postdoctoral fellow
I grew up in Vermont and went to Oberlin College, where I studied Biology and Cinema. I completed my microbiology PhD in Andy Camilli's lab at Tufts University, where I developed a high-throughput screen to identify genetic regulators in Vibrio cholerae. After graduating, I joined the Center for Translational Science Education (CTSE) at Tufts University Medical School, where I combined my undergraduate degrees by making biology films to accompany various high school biology curricula that are in use throughout the country (and world!). After 4 years away from the science bench, I missed it dearly and joined the Hochschild lab as a part-time postdoc (the other part of my time I work on a project at the CTSE). Outside of lab and curriculum development, I enjoy gardening, traveling, hiking, dancing, and singing songs around a campfire with friends.
